Kingdom Minded

John 1:35-39 The next day John was back at his post with two disciples, who were watching.  He looked up, saw Jesus walking nearby, and said, “Here he is, God’s Passover Lamb.”  The two disciples heard him and went after Jesus.  Jesus looked over his shoulder and said to them, “What are you after?”  They said, “Rabbi, where are you staying?”  He replied, “Come along and see for yourself.”

John the Baptist was always more concerned with pointing people to the Messiah as opposed to making a name for himself.  In this passage, we read that he points two of his own disciples to Jesus and grants them the right to transfer from underneath his teaching and become Jesus’ first disciples.  John the Baptist reminds us that the Kingdom of God is bigger than our ministries, our churches, and our denominations.  We need to be Kingdom minded, realizing that we are all on the same team in the effort to point people to Jesus.
